The story began on a sun-drenched Saturday. The air was electric with anticipation. My team and I arrived at Mekdelawit’s family home, a space already overflowing with laughter, joyful tears, and the beautiful scent of Ethiopian coffee. Mekdelawit, a vision of grace and serenity, was surrounded by her loved ones, her smile both nervous and radiant.

Then came Tebeb. His arrival was filled with such palpable emotion it gave us all pause. The look in his eyes when he saw his bride—a mixture of awe, adoration, and pure love—was everything a wedding photographer dreams of capturing. It was a raw, authentic moment that spoke volumes of their bond.

The traditional  Mels was a feast for the senses—a joyful, colorful, and deeply spiritual celebration of their union.

Surrounded by family and friends, Mekdelawit and Tebeb exchanged traditional vows, their heads crowned with beautiful miseb. The energy was infectious, from the rhythmic shoulder dances to the heartfelt speeches that had everyone reaching for tissues. It was a powerful reminder of the community, faith, and culture that form the foundation of a Habesha marriage.
